User Menu for SGH – 300 (500) High Purity Hydrogen Instrument


I. General Introduction:
This instrument is mainly composed of electrolysis system, pressure control system, purifying system and display system. The electro-hydrogen uses the most advanced velum separation technology. The pressure control system, which is composed of infrared light-electricity feedback device and motor-operated switch, can automatically adjust the amount of hydrogen according to the output requirement, can maintain the stability of output current and pressure.
It is widely used in the lab applying with Chromatograph ..
This instrument has digital display of hydrogen production, which is easy to observe the working condition and fault judgment of the instrument. It has long longevity, over-pressure protection device and security.

II. Main parameters:

1. Output Flow Discharge: SGH300 0-300ml/min;
SGH500 0-500ml/min;
2. Output Pressure: 0~0.4 Mpa (the attached certification shows the initialization)
3. Hydrogen Purity: >99.999%

III. User Menu

1. Take out he instrument from the package box, please check whether the spare part and repair card is complete.
2. Check whether the appearance and interior of the instrument is damaged due to transportation.
3. Preparation:

(1) In order to ensure that the instrument is used correctly, the operator should prepare the following goods:
1. 1.5litre distilled water
2. 120g (KOH)
3. 1 Kg silica gel
4. One thin-neck funnel
5. One 500ml beaker
6. One glass rod
7. AC220V power socket (flat three circuit, 10A), ensuring reliable grounding.
8. 220V/110v convertor
9. Stainless steel pipe with 3mm in external diameter or copper pipe of over 2m

(2) Put the silica gel to the filter.and then plug the ends of the filter.with cotton
(3) Collocate electro-liquid: dilute 120g (KOH) with 400-500ml distilled water, and inject it into the liquid kettle after solluted and cooled, and then add more distilled water between 0.6~1.2 scale line.

(4) Screw down the gland on the hydrogen output hole of the instrument’s back panel.

(5) Check whether the electric power line is firmly grounded.

4. Switch on
(1) Turn on the switch, observe the flow discharge, the current displayed value should be:
SGH300 350-400
SGH500 500-550
(2) The pressure will be increased gradually, when the pressure comes to the initialized value, it will be displayed as ‘000’. This indicates that the instrument works normally.


5. Instrument connection
After the instrument works normally, turn off the machine first, take down the gland from the hydrogen output, connect the 3mm radius tube with the instrument, and ensure that the gland will not leak air. Turn on the machine again, then the instrument can be operated when the pressure reach the initialized value.

6. You may only turn on the switch of the instrument whenever you operate it.

IV. Replace of turn-color silica gel

After the instrument has been used for a certain time, you may find that the silica gel inside the drying tube turns color from lower to the upper end. The silica gel should be changed when it exceeds a certain height. The detailed operation procedure is as follows:




1. Rotate as indicated, Screw down the cover of drying tube

2. take out the drying tube ;

3. Fill in new silica gel, the amount should not exceed the center of thin blue tube. Be careful not to let the cotton thread touch the cover of drying tube (otherwise it may cause the leak of air). Screw down the cover.
4. Screw the drying tube.

V. Special Notice

1. The instrument should be placed on the operation platform in order to be observed and operated.
2. The instrument cannot be operated under the condition of 0 pressure for 10min and over.
3. Observe the color changing of drying tube, replace the silica gel according to your requirement.
4. Observe the liquid position, recruit distilled water in time, keep the liquid position between 1.2~1.5 scale line (two red lines). Since the instrument only consumes distilled water, not KOH, you may only add distilled water (we suggest you change electro-liquid every year, for the collocated method of new electro-liquid, please refer to ‘III.3.(1)’).
5. The hydrogen flow value displayed on the instrument is only for reference.
